JAMES BASKETT: "THIS REALLY SUCKS"

James Baskett, the African American actor who played the lead role of Uncle Remus in the Walt Disney movie Song of the South, did not attend the world premiere of the film in Atlanta in 1947. The theater was restricted to whites only.
